Kayla's Story

Anytime you need a pick-me-up, just stop by our Wednesday night Sport Riding Class this fall and meet Kayla. Happy smiles, kind words and peppy steps always accompany Kayla...and enthusiasm. Kayla, like a few other girls, is smitten with horse fever. Eat, sleep, dream, read, talk, play and draw nothing but horses, is a real eye-opener for some unsuspecting parents. This 10 year old with a tiny frame and some vision impairments, hops aboard any horse and in seconds they're going places. Grandpa needs to be pretty quick with his camera as he tapes all of Kalya's rides. During our summer session, Kayla improved her riding seat by practicing balancing exercises with many airplane arms. (Holding arms outstretched for certain periods). Half hour lessons of riding Beau at a walk and trot, with airplane arms, while sitting and changing to two-point (lifting your bottom off the horse's back) never ruffled this rider. Even though Kayla experienced a horrible tragedy of losing her 16 year old sister just a few years ago, her abundance of joy fills our paddock. We are so proud of Kayla's willingness and positive attitude and we bet her sister is too. Thank you, Kayla.
