Libby's Story

I am so happy to announce our Spring 2007 Rising Rider is an amazing 11-year-old, Libby. It is difficult to decide what stories to share since there are so many. First of all, Libby started riding when she was 18 months old! Every sidewalker is awed from this bit of trivia. When Libby was born with Spina Bifida, her smart mother heard about hippotherapy and started her riding immediately. Next, during our 2006 Dinner Auction, Libby helped her mother give a touching presentation. Those of you who attended had the privilege of hearing this lovely little lady. Being in the spotlight was nothing new for Libby since she had been the Poster Child for St. Louis Variety - the Childrens Charity for many years and appeared in a Muny production.

We always look forward to seeing Libby each week. She is friendly, polite, smart and can tell great stories always with a smile. She volunteered to say our prayers before class last year in Spanish. Lately, Libby has been riding Diego and if I could briefly describe his movement he is like riding a worm! Each of the horses have their own unique shape and size which contributes to the way they move. Libby has been balancing and working extra hard to follow this wiggle worm.

Libby, we applaud your efforts and appreciate your smiles.
