Ride On, Saint Louis IX!
King Saint Louis IX is the name sake of our city and of Ride On St. Louis. Saint Louis honored his mission as "lieutenant of God on Earth," with which he had been invested when he was crowned at 12 years-old.

Everything Saint Louis did was for the glory of God and for the good of his people; He had a great love for the Church and was renowned for his charity. He protected the poor, founded many hospitals and houses for those in need. He was merciful to rebels and was never heard to speak ill of anyone, often reminding his subjects that "the peace and blessings of the realm come to us through the poor." Beggars were fed from his table, he ate their leavings, washed their feet, ministered to the wants of the lepers, and fed over one hundred poor each day.
