Ride On St. Louis celebrates another year of meeting all 20 of the BBB Standards for Charity Accountability. This is the 14th consecutive year Ride On St. Louis has earned our BBB A+ rating. Only 224 BBB approved charities exist in the bi-state area, and Ride On St. Louis is the only equine assisted services nonprofit in all of the Midwest states to earn this exclusive designation and display the Wise Giving Seal.


The BBB produces an impartial evaluative reports based upon our internally and or externally gathered information regarding governance and oversight, financial practices, measurements for effectiveness, and fundraising and solicitation materials. Whether Ride On St. Louis charity meets standards or not, the report findings and summaries are publicly available on the BBB’s website.


The process of preparing these detailed written reports is a thorough one that goes beyond a review of how our charity spends its donations. The overarching principle of the Standards for Charity Accountability is full disclosure to donors and potential donors at the time of solicitation and thereafter. Ride On St. Louis utilizes ethical practices beyond the act of disclosure in order to ensure public confidence and encourage giving. These added voluntary standards, go beyond the requirements of local, state, and federal laws and regulations. BBB's 20 Standards for Charity Accountability assists donors in making sound giving decisions with confidence in public charities like Ride On St. Louis. The standards seek to encourage fair and honest solicitation practices, to promote ethical conduct by charities, and to advance support of philanthropy.


Ride On St. Louis meets or exceeds all 20 standards set by the BBB. These Standards for Charity Accountability were developed with professional and technical assistance from representatives of small and large charities, the accounting profession, grant-making foundations, corporate contributions officers, regulator agencies, research organizations, and the BBB. BBB Wise Giving Alliance also commissioned significant research on donor expectations to ensure that the views of the general public were reflected in the Standards. The BBB Wise Giving Alliance helps donors make informed giving decisions and promotes high standards of conduct among organizations like Ride On St. Louis that rely on contributions from the public.
