Paving the Way to Success

A safe space to engage in equine-assisted services is necessitous to the program’s effectiveness and our ability to accommodate and meet ADA requirements to serve people with a variety of accessibility needs. Thanks to the Jefferson Foundation and the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, will be able to provide ground and footing solutions!

A $10,000 grant from the Jefferson Foundation will provide seamless mats and rubber pavers to ensure a dust-free, non-slip, and easily traversed barn and aisleway footing. Safe footing is nonnegotiable in our field to provide stability and prevent avoidable slip/trip and fall accidents that can be caused from alternative flooring options like gravel, dirt, or concrete often found in a standard barn.

A $6,925 grant from the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation will provide accessible parking modifications at our Forever Home. By adding accessible parking and a dedicated, controlled place for loading and unloading passenger participants who may be using mobility devices like wheelchair, crutches, scooters, or lifts, our program offerings and services will be able to expand in frequency and capacity.

We are extremely excited to implement these improvements and ever grateful to the Jefferson Foundation and the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation for helping people with disabilities participate in the social, recreational, and therapeutic activities of Ride On St. Louis with greater ease, promoting a sense of belonging and connection!
