Give STL Day is an opportunity to come together and support the people, programs, and animals within our community. This year, 20 donors contributed a total of $7,220 to support Style. That's more than doubling our original goal of $3,000!
Because of this support, Style’s essential needs are covered for 2026. Funding will go directly toward his Cushing’s treatment, grain, hay, hoof trimming, and dental care. With the additional funds raised, we are also able to provide for the often-overlooked, but equally important, aspects of daily care: bedding, fly control, pasture management, and the consistent attention required to keep him comfortable and healthy.
Style is a 30-year-old Arabian who served in our programs from 2015 through 2020. During that time, he worked with children and adults across a range of services, contributing to therapy treatments, adaptive riding, groundwork activities, and summer camp programming. Style was also an equine ambassador, traveling off-site for outreach events. He helped many child and even adult participants build confidence, develop physical skills, and engage in meaningful connection.
As horses age, their needs become more complex. Senior horses often require specialized diets, more frequent veterinary care, and ongoing management of chronic conditions. Style has Cushing’s disease, a hormonal disorder that affects metabolism, coat regulation, and immune function. Managing Cushing’s requires daily supplementation, careful feeding, and veterinarian monitoring. Left untreated, it can significantly impact a horse’s comfort and quality of life. With proper care, however, horses like Style can remain healthy and comfortable well into their later years.
In addition to medical care, senior horses (and all our horses!) benefit from proper management and care. Things like soft bedding, protection from insects, regular hoof care, grooming, manure pick up, and pasture management, and attentive daily observation are ongoing commitments that ensure welfare throughout all stages of life.
The huge success of Give STL Day reflects the shared love of horses and especially those at Ride On St. Louis. We extend our sincere thanks to the individuals who made this possible:
